About The Podcast
If you've been involved in Kansas City's startup community at all, you've probably noticed there's something special going on here. New events are popping up every day, people are moving here from all over the country to live and work in "Fiber Houses", and most importantly a new generation of entrepreneurs has been born.
Each of these individuals has a uniquely real story to tell, beyond the elevator pitch.
I started my first business in High School. It was a record label called "Thabenksta Records" for punk bands in Jefferson City, MO. After that I started to focus my career on Web Application Development, working for small companies and large corporations. I've started other businesses with varying degrees of success including The iPod Studio and LiveOn. In 2006 while working at a Kansas City health insurance company, my friend Heath Huffman and I started Doodlekit. While we initially built it just to create websites for friends, it has turned into a successful SaaS business that we're still growing.
I currently spend most of my time as a Technical Strategy Consultant helping businesses in Kansas City save time and money developing their technology solutions.
I've lived in Kansas City with my wife for 13 years. We bought a house in Midtown when we got married in 2002 which we've spent about 10 years renovating. I enjoy the outdoors, whisky, using my hands and have recently rekindled my interest in music.
